Hi everyone,
I previously used Cloudflare Zero Trust to manage internet access and content filtering for my home/family devices. It worked quite well, but I eventually had to stop using it due to government-level restrictions that made the service inaccessible.
After that, I switched to NextDNS. While it offers excellent features, I ran into a recurring issue where legitimate public-service and commonly used websites were being blocked without any obvious reason. I found myself constantly whitelisting sites, which became frustrating over time.
For now, I'm using the free AdGuard Family DNS, and it seems decent, but I'm exploring better long-term options.
What I'm looking for:
- DNS-based content filtering
- Family/parental control features
- Router-level and/or device-level deployment
- Monitoring, logs, and reporting capabilities
- Simple configuration and maintenance
- Budget of around $2/month or less
- Good balance between protection and minimal false positives
I'd appreciate recommendations from anyone who has used services like NextDNS, AdGuard DNS, Control D, CleanBrowsing, OpenDNS, or any other alternatives.
Which solution has worked best for you, and why?
PS: I am in Pakistan.
Thanks in advance!
