Building a browser extension (Fine Print Guard) for cookie auto-declining and ToS summaries—looking for architectural feedback and monetization thoughts from fellow dev founders

Hey everyone,

Like many of you, I got frustrated with losing privacy out of pure inconvenience spending time manually unchecking tracking toggles on pop-ups or scrolling through endless Terms of Service agreements just to read an article.

I spent some time building Fine Print Guard to handle this friction in the background.

What the extension handles:

Automated Privacy & Consent: Auto-deselects tracking cookies and enforces privacy preferences automatically.

ToS & Policy Summaries: Analyzes legal documents on the page, condenses core clauses into 4 actionable sentences, and assigns a domain privacy grade.

Form & Threat Protection: Warns before users type phone numbers into forms (to curb spam calls) and flags spoofed copycat domains.

DNS Ad/Tracker Blocking: Actively blocking telemetry and ads at the DNS level.

Here is the Chrome Web Store link if you want to inspect or test it: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/dkioccojkopmfbldghcgampmmnkpafmf?utm\_source=item-share-cb

A few questions for experienced SaaS and extension builders:

Freemium vs. Usage-Based: How are you handling API costs for client-side LLM summaries? I'm debating keeping cookie auto-declining 100% free while capping AI legal summaries behind a $3–$5/month Pro tier. Is a freemium model best for extension retention, or do you prefer a lifetime deal / single price tier?

Growth Channels: Extensions can be tough to market organically without relying purely on store SEO. What low-friction growth channels have yielded the highest conversion for your browser extensions?

Conversion Friction: For those running freemium Chrome extensions, at what usage threshold do you introduce payment prompts without causing immediate churn?

Would love any technical feedback, feature suggestions, or insight on your own extension monetization strategies!
