Hello. I am at my wits end. I am getting Roblox installed on my BF's desktop PC, but it just never launches. I would consider myself a proficient PC user, but I am running out of troubleshooting options.
Here's what happens: I download the installer, launch it, the game installs (all files are in place), but never launches. Doesn't open by clicking on the shortcut, or the RobloxClientBeta.exe itself. The following is in the install log:

Roblox Studio, on the other hand, opens and works without a fail every time.
I installed Roblox on my own laptop to see if it's perhaps a network issue, as we share a network, but it installed and worked immediately.
His computer had Windows reinstalled clean from a USB a few months ago, and prior to the reinstall, same setup, etc, Roblox worked no issue.
The specs are: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB RAM, RTX 3060, NVME drive, SSD, HDD, plenty of storage on each, two ASUS monitors, Windows 11 Pro, up to date
Here's all I've tried / contextual info that you might want:
- Terminating the process, relaunching the game
- Reinstalling
- Rebooting
- Removing all residual files from a previous install (AppData, registry entries)
- When launching the game through the browser, it always prompts to download the game again, aka, it doesnt detect it
- Trying another browser (Microsoft Edge instead of Firefox, downloading, launching)
- Getting the game from Microsoft Store, it times out after a minute of unresponsiveness
- No BitDefender
- No MSI Afterburner or Rivatuner
- Turning off Windows Defender
- Turning on/off Cloudflare DNS
- Turning on/off VPN
- Rebooting the router
- Using LAN
- Using WIFI
- Launching with no internet connection altogether
- I checked the router settings closely, there are no restrictions on Roblox, or anything at all for that matter
- Updating graphics drivers
- Overall all drivers must be up to date, all gotten from the official websites of the manufacturers
- Disabling overlays: Discord, NVIDIA overlay, quitting Steam
- Closing most/all background apps (point rendered irrelevant by next 2 entries)
- Launching it in Safe Mode (I would guess that means graphics drivers arent to blame, as in safe mode only generic drivers are loaded)
- Launching it in Safe Mode with Networking
- Launching the game in either of Safe modes made the ram usage 14MB instead of 6. Ain't that peculiar?
- Various compatibility modes
- Downloading older versions of Roblox, I tried two, from a few months ago and from a year ago.
- Deleting Temp files
- All C++ Redists are installed
- Running the installer from different partitions. Makes no difference since it always installs into AppData but you can clearly see I'm desperate
Might've been some other stuff I tried, but I can't recall. At this point none of us really care about getting the game. It's just about figuring this enigmatic issue out, because our brains are shrinking.
