Can you play Mario kart Wii online (with Wiimifi) on Wii U using the dns setting change like on the Wii?

I was wondering if you could do the same dns setting change but for Wii U to play Mario kart Wii online via Wiimifi. Or if I have to do something else? I would prefer to use the Wii U. appreciate any help here!

edit: I forgot to add. I am talking about changing dns settings in the vWii menu (not the Wii U internet settings). If I am supposed to do the Wii U internet settings please let me know..
