Sorry for the wall of text but I need to type out what I have and see if it is possible to do in Home Assistant.
I am looking at Home Assistant but before I go down that road, I want to make sure I can at least
do what I can currently do with my current configuration using Alexa and Hubitat.
The news about the custom firmware on the echo dots/show has me excited.
I have a dedicated PC with linux that I currently use as my pihole (DNS blacklisting). But it is basically running on idle.
I would like to convert my Amazon Echo devices to be used by Home Assistant.
My current usage is probably small compared to what most people are doing. But I would like to break away from using Alexa
since it seems to be getting worse at hearing. I do not have to be stuck with Hubitat either.
I put the things I do now first, then listed the hardware under it.
Thank you for any input / suggestions that you have!
The current things I can do now that I want to duplicate
Alexa (voice stuff)
preheat the oven / set specific temp turn on kitchen fan get the time get the weather ask simple questions Turn on specific lights "time for bed" routine shuts off all downstairs lights set thermostat add things to lists check google calendar set timers set reminders turn on fireplace set 20 min off timer (actually hubitat automation) Alexa routines
Turn on/off holiday lights at specific times Turn on bed heating pad for 5 minutes once an hour from 9pm to 2am Turn on/off Christmas tree Hubitat automations
if switch next to front door is pressed off once, disable audible alert and relock timer. change color on light switch to indicate in bypass if Front door is physically moved to unlock if not in bypass and front door Smart lock is unlocked, announce on speaker that the lock is unlocked, set a 10 minute timer to relock, if between 5pm and midnight turn on entry light. change switch led color to red indicating door is unlocked. if in bypass change switch led color to red to indicate unlocked if Front door is physically moved to lock change switch led color to green to indicate door is locked if water is detected at sensors announce leak on repeat until cleared and shut off water to house if basement light switch is double tapped on ALL basement lights come on if basement light switch is double tapped off ALL basement lights go off if motion sensor on front porch activated turn on front porch / carriage lights set 10 minute off timer if motion sensor in garage activated turn on garage lights set 20 minute off timer renewed with additional motion if motion sensor in basement activated turn on basement storage area light set 10 minute off timer if large garage door sensed open set led to red on switch light in kitchen and upstairs and turn on garage lights else set led green if small garage door sensed open set led to red on other switch light in kitchen and upstairs and turn on garage lights else set led green Current hardware
