Where domain hunters compare notes

ThreatsDay: Adobe RCE, DNS Wallet Theft, NVIDIA Container Escape, Self-Healing Backdoor + 23 More

This is a classic "roundup" post. It's a curated list of multiple discrete threats and vulnerabilities, not a deep dive into a single one.

Adobe ColdFusion RCE (CVE-2026-XXXX): A critical unauthenticated remote code execution bug is being actively exploited in the wild. Expect mass scanning and webshell deployment on exposed instances.

DNS Wallet Theft: Attackers are leveraging DNS exfiltration techniques to siphon cryptocurrency wallet keys. This bypasses standard network monitoring that doesn't inspect DNS payloads for base64-encoded data.

NVIDIA Container Escape: A new vulnerability in the NVIDIA container toolkit allows a malicious process within a container to break out to the host kernel. This is a direct threat to any GPU-accelerated ML or AI workloads running in shared environments.

Self-Healing Backdoor: A novel malware strain has been observed that uses a scheduled task or cron job to re-infect a host from a secondary, obfuscated payload stored in a registry key or alternate data stream. Standard EDR removal is insufficient; you must hunt for the persistence mechanism.

The "Scareware" Feature: A new infostealer variant includes a feature that, after exfiltration, displays a full-screen ransom note without actually encrypting files. The goal is pure psychological manipulation to panic the victim into paying before they realize no encryption occurred.

Defense Strategy: – Patch Priority: Adobe ColdFusion and NVIDIA Container Toolkit patches are Day 0 critical. – DNS Monitoring: Enable DNS logging and alert on high entropy queries or unusual TXT record lookups. – Backdoor Hunt: After any malware remediation, audit all scheduled tasks, cron jobs, and Windows Run keys for persistence. A single removal is not enough.
