Please bear with me. I'm a layman. It's been over 24 hours since I've started this, guided mostly by Google's shitty AI overview who's both helpful and also so damn stupid. My PS5 was on the 13.60 firmware, which I hadn't updated cause I didn't use it since late August so I with the news of that new exploit I decided that I might as well delete the regular network settings to prevent an update, backup old profiles on a hard drive then delete them from the console and start the jailbreak on a fresh new user. I already successfully got the Relapse jailbreak running, got a bunch of vital apps running like ShadowMount Plus, BFPilot, Autoloader, etc. All so I can finally try and get Prosperoeden up and running. But it's hard, cause, every little time something goes wrong or there's a kernel panic, the custom network settings are all messed up and these apps don't work.
Transferring large multi GB files like Switch roms via BFpilot is so difficult cause the process always keeps failing mid-way as it takes so long (like half an hour or 50 minutes), and USB transfer for large files? Nevermind, PS5's OS cancels that immediately. I just want to use the massive internal SSD storage I have available on my jailbreak'db and wiped console, but that seems impossible. Then I've been led around in the past 10 hours, between one problem or another, to try and set up that PS5 Upload app from the payload manager, the former which is said to be very fast and handles large file transfers correctly, so I'll finally have a workaround for transferring my game files to the internal SSD instead of playing any of them from an external hard drive. Well, that's another massive headache.
For some reason the PC app for PS5 uploader, from which I could send my game ROMs, is hard-wired only to respond to a 9021 port, while my PS5 jailbreak is set to 9091. I tried EVERY other possible solution that useless AI told me to, and they were all dead ends, including trying to use Windows native file explorer with my PS5's IP address while in the same network. This is just so hopelessly complicated.
For now, I'll have to leave this obsession aside and get ready for a family visit trip. But if anyone could help me or point me in the right directions, I'd really appreciate a link to some guide about how to handle tweaking the IP addresses in our custom network every time something wrong happens like a Kernel panic, which frequently messes up connectivity after rebooting. Also, on how to actually manage to set up PS5 Upload, or some other similar app cause it just seems impossible no matter what I do. And if there's any better solution for file transfers to the internal PS5 storage other than transmitting via local network, like a workaround app that actually handles USB transfer well, I don't know.
And finally, and most important. During all those attempts where I had to tweak the network settings to get it and the apps back up and running, a PS5 update managed to slip through. I didn't click update, obviously, and the AI overview told me the place to delete it in the PS5 root files, except there was nothing there, in the Update folder. I also rebooted the console while also unplugging it for a minute, so the update would supposedly be gone from the cache memory, or whatever the AI said. Didn't work. Last time I turned off the console, the prompt to Install the new update appeared again, even tho my DNS settings are cut off from PSN. This is just a nightmare. So I'd like a guide to find out where to delete any update files that slip through as well, if that exists.
Thank you for your time, and sorry if I sound like a complete idiot, cause I am. I was just so excited. (Also have some sort of obsessive compulsive thing where I just won't stop until it's finished) Now I'm just so sad and defeated lol. Threw in the towel for the time being, but I hope that with some actual research I can find the solutions I need to get this local streaming client up and running, transfer my ROMs and get the emulator finally started, learn how to permanently finesse the network settings every time something unexpected happens, and ultimately just learn how to transfer future files without much of a hassle. Like sure, smaller games are probably fine to run from an SSD, but any PS4 or PS5 game I might want to download and transfer into my PS5 will be impossible from an external HD, and a logistical nightmare to get inside the PS5 SSD with my current tools.
