Paid $600+ for – myQ smart garage door opener: 70%+ of the app is unremovable ads

While I was out of town, my wife let me know our old "dumb" garage opener died. No big deal! I was excited to upgrade anyway – "hey, garage door repair person, just slot in one of those new-fangled 'smart' garage door openers with phone app control – it will be great!!".

Little did I know that:

– The ads appear on the app home screen ALL of the time, on every launch
– They cannot be dismissed or disabled
– They cannot be removed with a "premium" tier or additional subscriptions/purchases
– The lower ad will block multiple garage doors from showing up
– DNS ad blockers (including PiHole, 1.1.1.1, etc.) will not disable them
– Cannot use Apple Home, HomeKit, iOS home screen widgets, or any another service to mirror these controls outside of the app

Please prove me wrong on any of the above!
