Just got a Lenovo Googlebook delivered just over 90 minutes ago. Setup and update took twenty minutes, mostly deciding what apps to install.
I launched the Linux terminal setup, installed my normal stack of tools. Ran Antigravity to generate a test app. The first pass was pretty good and it made some decent choices based on my prompt.
Miscellaneous observations:
* Copying directly using a terminal multiplexer app didn't work. On Linux or MacOS I can highlight text in zellij and it will copy directly to the system keyboard. CTL-ALT-Shift does copy, but not as easy as just select to copy.
* I couldn't find a way to access clipboard buffer. Only the last item was available which is annoying. On Linux I can click the clipboard icon or meta-V to bring up clipboard history and I use this heavily. Gemini still doesn't pick up Googlebook as a word so voice queries were not useful in figuring it out.
* Physically the device seems well-made. In daylight, turning on the keyboard backlight made the keys unreadable but they look good in low light (general problem with light-colored keys). The keyboard layout will take some getting used to. Fingerprint reader worked well. Sound is really good. Screen is really good and easy to read.
* Podman ran as expected in the Linux terminal, but as expected, privileged ports weren't bindable. I ran Technitium DNS server and it worked fine.
* Apps I use worked fine. Not a whole bunch but I ran Duolingo, Ring, some finance apps, etc..
* Within Linux terminal, many installs requiring sudo were denied. Not totally unexpected but limits what I can do immediately. I wish there were more details on the sandboxing and what is allowed/denied. I can write apps to run directly in user-space or containerized but some system tool require root. Podman can fake root so hopefully some solution will appear in an update.
