AI note: AI helped format and organize this post. The advice and personal observations come from my notes and experience. Factual details and model-specific steps are supported by URLs written out beside the relevant points. Most of my hands-on experience is with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and Radeon RX 7900 XTX. I may reply to comments and try to help, but I cannot diagnose every setup.
Network & Online Stability
If you cannot connect to EA’s servers at all, check the EA Server Status page for FC 27 and your platform before changing local network settings.
EA Server Status: https://help.ea.com/en/server-status/
For EA FC network issues, the one page I’d check first is the EA Connection Quality Report. It uses actual FC online match data to EA’s game data centers and shows ping, jitter, packet loss, and a Connection Score, so it is more specific than a generic network test.
EA Connection Quality Report: https://help.ea.com/en/help-tools/ea-connection-report/
It works for PC and console players, except Nintendo Switch. EA bases the overall score on matches from the past seven days, so check the individual match entries too if only some games feel off.
- Connection Score: 90+ is a decent target, but it is not an official pass/fail line. EA labels 80-94 Good and 95+ Great.
- Ping: Lower ping generally helps responsiveness. Personally, above 30 ms feels heavy to me, but that is subjective.
- Jitter: This measures changes in ping over time, so low and steady is better.
- Packet loss: EA recommends keeping this as close to 0% as possible.
This is analysis, not a fix, but it is the most relevant first check for EA FC connection quality. If it points to a persistent problem, investigate the affected part of your own connection.
Potential fixes
EA network troubleshooting: https://help.ea.com/en/articles/technical-issues/troubleshoot-connection-issues-eacqr/
Use Ethernet when you can. A LAN cable can give a more consistent link than Wi-Fi. EA recommends wired because it can reduce latency and packet loss.
If you must use Wi-Fi, test the signal and band. Move closer to the router. When the signal is strong, try 5 GHz, which EA says is generally faster and more stable than 2.4 GHz but has shorter range.
If you use a VPN, compare with it disconnected. A VPN can add distance to EA’s game data centers and increase ping or instability. Only do this if bypassing it is safe and allowed on your network.
Check competing traffic. Pause downloads, large uploads, or streams for a quick test. This matters most when the home connection is busy. Another device simply being online does not automatically cause lag.
Router prioritization
Try router prioritization only if congestion is the issue. Look for names such as QoS, Device Priority, Application Priority, Adaptive QoS, or a gaming-priority mode. Router labels and behavior vary by model, so treat these as search terms, not universal steps. Prioritization may help share bandwidth during congestion, but it cannot reduce the distance to an EA server.
Common router addresses include 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.1. FRITZ!Box commonly uses 192.168.178.1 or fritz.box. These are examples, not guarantees.
On Windows, run ipconfig: Default Gateway is the router address, while IPv4 Address is the PC’s local address.
On PlayStation, check the network connection details for the console’s IP address. On Xbox, find it under Settings > General > Network settings > Advanced settings.
DNS
DNS is optional, and it is not a match-stability fix. DNS resolves names to IP addresses. A different resolver might speed up a menu or sign-in lookup if DNS is the bottleneck, but it will not stabilize ping, jitter, or packet loss in an established match.
Cloudflare: IPv4 1.1.1.1, 1.0.0.1; IPv6 2606:4700:4700::1111, 2606:4700:4700::1001. Details: https://developers.cloudflare.com/1.1.1.1/ip-addresses
Google: IPv4 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4; IPv6 2001:4860:4860::8888, 2001:4860:4860::8844. Details: https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/
DNS4EU: EU-operated, unfiltered option. IPv4 86.54.11.100, 86.54.11.200; IPv6 2a13:1001::86:54:11:100, 2a13:1001::86:54:11:200. Details: https://joindns4.eu/for-public
List both address families for completeness, but do not imply everyone must configure both. DNS queries over IPv4 can return IPv6 records; set IPv6 DNS only when the device and connection support it.
Configure DNS manually
Windows: Open Settings > Network & internet > Wi-Fi or Ethernet > DNS server assignment > Edit > Manual. Enter Preferred and Alternate DNS for each supported address family.
PS5: While setting up the connection, open Advanced Settings > DNS Settings.
PS4: Choose Settings > Network > Set Up Internet Connection > Wi-Fi or LAN > Custom > DNS Settings > Manual.
Xbox: Open Settings > General > Network settings > Advanced settings > DNS settings.
PC Performance & Graphics
Check your PC specs
On Windows, press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager, then select Performance. Check CPU, Memory, and each GPU entry, and note the model names and installed RAM.
For your Windows version and system type, open Settings > System > About. Check free space under Settings > System > Storage. If your laptop lists more than one GPU, include both.
To find your mainboard manufacturer and model, CPU-Z is an easy option. Download CPU-Z from https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html and check its Mainboard tab.
When asking for help, share your CPU, GPU(s), RAM, mainboard manufacturer and model, Windows version, and whether the game is installed on an SSD or HDD.
Official minimum and recommended specs
These are EA’s listed PC requirements. Treat them as baseline hardware targets, not a guarantee of a particular frame rate on every system. EA notes that performance varies by hardware and configuration.
Official requirements: https://www.ea.com/games/ea-sports-fc/fc-27/system-requirements
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10/11 64-bit, latest update | Windows 10/11 64-bit, latest update |
| CPU | AMD Ryzen 5 1600 or Intel Core i5-6600K | AMD Ryzen 7 2700X or Intel Core i7-6700 |
| Memory | 8 GB DDR4, dual-channel | 12 GB, dual-channel |
| Graphics | AMD Radeon RX 570 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti | AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 |
| DirectX | Version 12 | Version 12 |
| Storage | 100 GB; HDD supported | 100 GB SSD |
EA specifies dual-channel memory and recommends an SSD for the best experience, although an HDD is supported at the minimum tier.
EA AntiCheat and Secure Boot
Some EA games protected by EA Javelin anticheat require Secure Boot. Use this path only when the game or anticheat reports a Secure Boot requirement; it is not a guaranteed fix for every launch issue.
EA Secure Boot guide: https://help.ea.com/en/articles/technical-issues/secure-boot/
Before changing firmware, press Win + R, enter msinfo32, and check BIOS Mode and Secure Boot State. EA says BIOS Mode should be UEFI and Secure Boot State On, and lists TPM 2.0 and a GPT Windows drive among the requirements.
If BIOS Mode is Legacy, Secure Boot is Unsupported, or the Windows disk is MBR, do not simply switch CSM/UEFI or change the disk format. Follow EA’s guide and your exact PC or motherboard maker’s instructions first; incorrect firmware changes can stop Windows from starting.
Common BIOS/UEFI setup keys include Delete, F2, F10, and Esc, but the right key varies by model. Check the startup screen or manufacturer manual. Windows 11 also offers Settings > System > Recovery > Advanced startup > UEFI Firmware Settings on supported PCs.
If Secure Boot is unavailable or still not recognized, check the manufacturer’s support page for your exact system or motherboard model and revision. A BIOS/UEFI update may be relevant when the manufacturer documents it for that model, but it is not a universal anti-cheat fix. Use the official file and instructions, ensure stable power, and never interrupt the update. An exact-model video can help with navigation, but use the manufacturer’s page for the update file and procedure.
If BitLocker or Device Encryption is enabled, make sure the recovery key is saved and accessible before firmware changes, since a BIOS update can trigger a recovery prompt.
Microsoft recovery-key guidance: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/encryption/back-up-your-bitlocker-recovery-key
GPU drivers and clean reinstall
Download graphics drivers only from the GPU maker’s official page:
- NVIDIA: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/
- AMD: https://www.amd.com/en/support/download/drivers.html
- Intel: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download-center/home.html
For a laptop or prebuilt PC, check the system maker’s support page if the generic driver causes problems, since some systems use customized packages.
DDU is not required before every routine driver update. It is a cleanup tool for cases where the usual uninstall fails or a thorough removal is needed. Use it for stubborn driver problems or when switching GPU brands.
If you do use DDU:
- Download the new GPU driver first, then download DDU from Wagnardsoft’s official page at https://www.wagnardsoft.com/display-driver-uninstaller-ddu and extract it.
- Temporarily disconnect from the internet, or enable DDU’s option to block driver downloads from Windows Update, so Windows does not install a driver during cleanup.
- Boot into Safe Mode: from the Start menu, select Power, hold Shift, and select Restart. Then choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart and press 4 or F4 for Safe Mode.Microsoft Safe Mode guidance: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/experience/startup-boot/windows-startup-settingsIf device encryption or BitLocker is enabled, have the recovery key available in case Windows asks for it.
- Open DDU, select GPU and the correct vendor, then choose Clean and restart for a normal cleanup. Use Clean and shutdown only when you are physically replacing the graphics card.
- After Windows starts normally, install the driver you downloaded, restart if prompted, and reconnect to the internet. DDU can reset graphics control-panel settings, so you may need to reapply custom settings afterward.
Windows power mode
While plugged in, you can test Best performance under Settings > System > Power & battery > Power mode in Windows 11. To try a classic plan, open Control Panel > System and Security > Power Options and select High performance if it appears. If Ultimate Performance is already listed, you can test it too, but it is not required.
Microsoft says Best performance can help the CPU run at higher performance when needed, but it uses more power. On laptops, it can drain the battery faster and make the device run warmer.
Microsoft performance and power guidance: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/experience/performance-optimization/tips-to-improve-pc-performance-in-windows
Treat this as an optional test, not a guaranteed FPS fix. Compare it with your normal setting in the same game scenario and switch back if there is no noticeable improvement. On laptops, use the high-power setting while plugged in.
Quick checks for persistent problems
EA FC 27 PC performance guide: https://help.ea.com/en/articles/ea-sports-fc/pc-performance/
- Close only resource-heavy background apps for a test. EA names apps using CPU, GPU, or memory, including browsers, overlays, recording tools, and launchers. There is no need to close every background process.
- Secondary-monitor activity: I used to get stuttering with a stream, video, or Wallpaper Engine running on a second monitor while FC ran above 60 FPS on the main screen, even when the FPS counter looked stable. If you notice similar hitching, pause the video or wallpaper app as a quick test. This is a personal, setup-dependent observation.
- Check dual-channel memory. EA notes that running RAM in single-channel mode can contribute to poor or unstable performance. If problems persist, check the channel mode in BIOS/UEFI or a hardware-information tool, and follow the PC or motherboard maker’s guidance before changing module placement.
- Hybrid-GPU laptops: verify FC 27 is using the dedicated GPU. In Windows 11, a per-app High performance GPU preference is available under Settings > System > Display > Graphics > FC 27 > Options. Also test the laptop maker’s performance profile while plugged in.
Graphics and frame-rate stability
My preference is to use the Low preset regardless of hardware, because I personally see little visual difference at higher settings. That is a personal preference, not a universal best setting. EA describes Low as its performance-priority preset.
EA FC 27 PC settings: https://www.ea.com/games/ea-sports-fc/fc-27/news/pitch-notes-fc27-pc-deep-dive
If Low still leaves you with stutters or low FPS, change one thing at a time and check gameplay after each change. My preferred order is to lower the in-game resolution first, then lower the target FPS cap until it feels stable. EA’s troubleshooting guide recommends lowering the target frame rate first, then reducing graphics quality or resolution; it gives changing from 60 FPS to 30 FPS as an example. The resolution-first order here is my preference, so test whichever order works better on your PC.
In EA FC, an unstable frame rate feels especially bad to me compared with other games. That is subjective, but I would rather use a lower, steady cap than chase a higher FPS that keeps fluctuating.
On my setup, I personally find AMD Radeon Chill smoother than FC’s in-game frame limiter. This is my experience, not a general benchmark.
AMD says Chill dynamically adjusts FPS between its Min and Max caps based on in-game movement, so it is not the same as a fixed cap and may not suit everyone.
AMD Radeon Chill details: https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/faqs/DH-033.html
NVIDIA users could also test the driver’s per-game Max Frame Rate limit. I have not tested it, so I cannot say whether it feels smoother than the in-game limiter.

Fullscreen vs borderless
Windows 10 already introduced Fullscreen Optimizations, which let compatible games use a borderless-style path with performance Microsoft says is generally equivalent to fullscreen exclusive.
Fullscreen Optimizations overview: https://devblogs.microsoft.com/directx/demystifying-full-screen-optimizations/
Windows 11’s separate Optimizations for windowed games setting targets DirectX 10/11 titles; Microsoft’s DirectX team says DirectX 12 games already use the newer presentation mode.
DirectX explanation: https://devblogs.microsoft.com/directx/updates-in-graphics-and-gaming/
EA lists DirectX 12 for FC 27.
So I would not treat fullscreen or borderless as a guaranteed FPS fix. If you are troubleshooting stutters, frame pacing, refresh-rate, VRR, or input-latency issues, test both modes and keep whichever behaves better on your setup.
