Domain join not working for players, what am I doing wrong with DNS/SRV?

Hey guys, I'm pulling my hair out with this.
My server runs fine when people connect with the direct IP + port, but no one can join using my custom domain name.
I'm trying to set it up so players can just use ⁠play.myserver.com⁠ without typing the port. Right now I have:

An A record pointing to my server IP

An SRV record set up… but honestly, I'm completely lost on how the SRV record needs to look for port forwarding to work.
Can someone please give me a quick, dummy-proof explanation of how the A and SRV records should be configured? Thanks a lot!
