Has anyone had any luck plugging a DNS leak running a VPN on a UniFi gateway?
I have a UCG-Max with a mix of Proton and Windscribe VPNs defined as VPN Clients with the devices defined in the Object Based Routing. The DNS Servers are internal. (Primary is PiHole using Technitium as upstream resolver).
Running nslookup on one of the devices defined on the VPN, PiHole continues to receive the query. Tried a DNAT Rule but it appears to just be ignored. (misconfigured is a definite possibility)
The external traffic is routed into the tunnel, but the DNS requests stay on the internal network.
Claude & ChatGPT haven't been much help. I've resorted to running Technitium on its own VPN as a fallback. Doesn't fix the leak, just throws a towel over it. I'm a noob groping in the dark.
