FranklyMail now supports BIMI: brand logos, SVG conversion and DNS setup for your email domain

Hi, I’m the founder of FranklyMail. BIMI support is now live, following a request from a prospective customer who wanted their company logo to appear beside their emails.

BIMI stands for Brand Indicators for Message Identification. It lets supporting email services discover your domain’s brand logo through a DNS record. If you’ve wondered how to show a company logo in Gmail or other supporting inboxes, this is the setup involved.

FranklyMail now hosts your BIMI logo and public mark certificate at stable HTTPS URLs, generates the BIMI TXT record, and checks your DNS and uploaded files from the domain panel.

Here’s how to set it up:

  1. Open Domains, choose your domain, and find “Brand appearance (BIMI).” Verify domain ownership if prompted.

  2. Upload an SVG Tiny PS logo, or convert a PNG, JPG or WebP image in your browser. You can preview and download the converted SVG before saving. Conversion can change fine details and colors, so review it carefully; an existing, properly prepared vector logo is the better starting point when available.

  3. For Gmail, obtain a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) or Common Mark Certificate (CMC) from an external certificate issuer, then upload the public PEM certificate chain. FranklyMail hosts the files but does not issue these certificates. Issuer fees are separate. Use your final SVG for the certificate application; don’t convert or change an already-certified logo.

  4. Save your brand settings, then publish the generated TXT record at default._bimi with your DNS provider. Saving in FranklyMail does not automatically change your DNS.

  5. Run “Check BIMI setup.” After DNS has propagated, send a real test email and inspect its authentication results.

You also need an enforced DMARC policy covering your mail, using quarantine or reject rather than none, and messages that pass aligned authentication. Check all your legitimate sending services before tightening DMARC.

A few expectations worth making clear: uploading a logo alone does not make it appear in Gmail. Gmail requires a VMC or CMC; a VMC can qualify for its verified checkmark, while a CMC does not provide that checkmark. Passing our setup checks does not guarantee logo display, certificate acceptance or inbox placement. Each receiving service applies its own rules, and our checker does not verify issuer trust, revocation or the certificate’s embedded logo against your SVG.

If you’re setting this up, which part is the biggest obstacle: preparing the SVG, obtaining a certificate, or getting DNS and DMARC right? I’d like to make the confusing parts easier.
