Bad ping when playing operations

Hi everyone, recently moved from EE broadband to virgin fibre and now my ping keeps spiking in first person shooters. Originally i was getting between 20-25 ping from EE and was pretty consistent but now with virgin it sits around 50 (both results were from wired connection) when i tested wireless with virgin it was actually slightly better at around 40 but still not happy with it being double my previous ISP. I have done all the normal advance settings on Xbox like DNS and stuff but nothing really seems to help. I just want a steady and consistent lower ping, I would even settle for 20 again so does anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance
