Potential first time Xiaomi user

I run dual-OS: an iPhone as my daily driver, and an Android on the side for gaming and media. As a potential first time Xiaomi user, I just sold my Oppo Find X3 Neo, a bit outdated, but it handled 90fps gaming without breaking a sweat.
I’ve got a Xiaomi 14T on the way and I'm properly keen. The specs look solid on paper, and HyperOS appeals to me since it feels quite similar to iOS.
Now my questions to the sub:
•Is moving from the Find X3 Neo to the 14T a massive jump or a bit "meh"?
•Any hardware or HyperOS quirks I should watch out for?
•Are Xiaomi's built-in ads actually as bad as people say, and does a private DNS sort them out?
