Android allows only one app to hold the VPN slot at a time. AdGuard's Local VPN filtering mode uses that slot. Astrill also needs it, so the two apps conflict.
Has anyone solved this? A few questions:
- Does Astrill support a local or outbound proxy? If it does, I can set AdGuard to Manual proxy mode and route through Astrill instead of taking the VPN slot itself.
2.- Does anyone skip the AdGuard app and use Private DNS (DoH or DoT) for ad blocking instead? That way Astrill keeps the VPN slot and AdGuard is not needed.
I am also in China. If DNS-based ad blocking only works once traffic is tunneled through Astrill, does anyone know of extra steps needed to make that reliable?
If you have a working setup, please share the steps or a screenshot.
