[LOST MEDIA] Looking for “The Ultimate Megadrive Soundfont v2 / v2.1” by The 8th Bit

Hey everyone! I’m on a hunt to track down and preserve a specific piece of Genesis/Mega Drive audio history that seems to have completely vanished from the internet.

I’m looking for The Ultimate Megadrive Soundfont v2 (or v2.1), created by The 8th Bit (also known as Cinnamon Roll on YouTube) around 2010-2011.

All the original public download links (mostly from domains like f.mtsys.us and FileFactory) have been dead for years. If you check the original release video on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWEMmTUZtLs), the current links only point to v3, and the archive folders available only include v1.5 and older. To make things more difficult, the creator himself doesn't have anything past v1.5 anymore!

I’ve also reached out to several veteran members from old forums (like The Daily Click and OC ReMix) who interacted with the release back in the day, but every single person who still has a file saved has the v1.5.

If you have a folder of old soundfonts on an old hard drive, I would be incredibly grateful if you could take a look. Here is how to identify if you have the lost version:

• Zipped File Size: The .zip file for v2 should be around 46.8 MB.
• Extracted File Size: The uncompressed .sf2 file for v2 is somewhere between 61 MB and 65 MB.
• Note to avoid confusion: To be extremely precise, the common v1.5 is exactly 61,766 KB (often showing as 60.3 MB extracted). On the other hand, the v3 is exactly 65,227 KB. If your .sf2 file matches either of those exact KB sizes, it is unfortunately not the version we are looking for!
• Filename: The .sf2 file itself usually does not have "v2" in the name (it's usually just called something like The_Ultimate_Megadrive_Soundfont.sf2). The actual version number was written inside a bundled readme file inside the .zip.
