How do you manage internal and external DNS domain for home network?

Hi Everyone,

Hope everything is well.

How do you have your DNS domain setup for your home lab.

I was trying setup like jbalatraining.local but AI kept saying you will face issues mDNS which don't fully get.

So my question is it better to internal domain like jbalatraining.lab for any services access internal home network or over VPN and any service that needs to be access over internet to setup external dns service for jbalatraining.com?

I would like incorporate SSL authentication for learning if i can for both internal and external.
