Where domain hunters compare notes

Windows Modding Saga Part 6(66): The month and a half road to 4210, and it’s still not finished.

After 4200 came out, I was going to start work on the next build if it hadn't been for the fact Revision 1's ISO didn't boot so I quickly fixed that in Revision 1.5.

Shortly after fixing that, I started work on 4210 with the main goal of adding a Feedback function, however since that didn't add much else besides the Segoe UI font, I swapped the build number over to 4205.

However getting that up was a bit chaotic, and I for some reason decided to get a Windows Server 2008 R2 VM setup on a friend's server for it, after a bit of explaining to said friend, configuring my domain to go through Cloudflare DNS and setting Cloudflare tunnel up, the feedback executable worked, and dus, 4205.

I decided to make a NT 5.2 based version as a test, labeling this as build 4207, and implementing Longhorn 5048's DWM engine too.

Then the laptop I was using — which was the Ideapad 3 you've probably seen me post about once or twice — had it's NVME controller fully killing itself, basically taking that laptop out for the count.

After maybe two weeks, maybe a bit more, and after asking my aunt if I could take her (now my) Thinkpad X250 that she never used and then returning home after a week, I got everything set up.

I then decided to scrap the NT 5.2 Kernel Upgrade plan due to DWM related issues (aka the Windows not actually doing stuff when their control buttons were clicked), and go back to the NT 5.1 based 4210, adding taskbar transparency via transbar and attempting to create auto-starting and auto stopping areo, in this, I also added the Jade Visual Style.

I also decided to try figure out how to get a custom OOBE working, so I created a WPF web app, after some fighting with signatures and disabling them, I got it to work, or at least the first page as I don't have the code to goto the next page set up yet.

Around this same time, I decided to try see about replacing Longbar with Karl's Sidebar (also called Retrophase Sidebar apparently) and figure out how to add gadgets to that, quickly figuring that out, I managed to add a few gadgets and replaced Longbar with it.

And finally, to finish off the x86 client, I changed at least some of the icons in the General UI/UX to match Longhorn 4074 closer.

The x64 Client/Server and the x86 Server haven't been done yet, but they're soon™️, once they're done, 4210 😀

(I just spent an hour typing this holy interest)
