been homelabbing for close to a year, but have been primarily using my ISP's (xfinity) hardware. They do not allow DNS manipulation and other services that i want to branch into using. Most of what i've been using for the experience is just tailscale.
If I were to get my own router, what should i aim for and REALISTICALLY, what are some issues i should expect or be prepared for if i make the jump? I still live at home so any issue that i may cause could affect those i live with and i'd like to get an idea.
