VPN NetGuard: privacy tool, connection monitoring daemon, real kill switch for Linux VPNs — one-click “set & forget” and more

Hi folks!

I’ve just published the repository for the privacy tool I told you about, and I’m sharing it with you. It’s available in English and Spanish.

  • VPN NetGuard is an open-source (GPLv3) Bash kill switch for Linux: it blocks all traffic as soon as the VPN disconnects — even during boot — and automatically reconnects. It also hides your MAC address and hostname from local networks, so your activity cannot be identified, even when the VPN is working properly.

There is a “set it and forget it” option for a configuration-free setup, as well as a complete advanced configuration (kill switch modes, DNS allowlist, MAC randomization, Prometheus metrics…) if you want it. It works on desktop with a graphical panel or without a graphical interface via systemd/SSH.
