[4 Years, Telecoms Field Engineer, Junior Network Engineer, North West England UK]

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to move from telecoms into a Junior Network Engineer / NOC type role and I’m looking for honest feedback on my experience, skills and education, rather than the layout or formatting of the CV itself.

I’ve tried reaching out to hiring managers and recruiters on LinkedIn for this kind of feedback, but most of the time I just get ignored, so I thought I’d ask here instead.

What I’m really trying to understand is whether my current background is enough to realistically start getting interviews for junior networking roles, or whether there are important gaps I still need to fill.

I’m open to taking whatever route is genuinely necessary. If that means going through 1st line / IT support first, getting another certification, or even considering university, I’m willing to do it.

I just don’t want to spend years collecting qualifications that employers don’t actually care about if practical experience would be more valuable.

I’d really appreciate feedback on:

• Whether my telecoms experience is relevant enough for junior networking roles
• Whether my current skills and certifications are enough to start getting interviews
• Whether my education puts me at a disadvantage
• Whether I should go through 1st line / IT support first
• Whether there are any major skills or qualifications missing
• Whether a degree would genuinely improve my chances
