The Great Dabura Carry!

Feat #1: Dabura moves up to the speed of light.

Premise: The feat that almost everyone knows about in terms of the high end AP scales for JJK. Dabura uses his CT on himself and initially moves at near light speeds before getting faster and faster until reaching light speed.

The Math: Dabura is depicted as being very tall, as well as a pretty muscular guy with also a pair of large horns. Using a weight of 125 Kg and a speed of 93% the SOL as that’s the max relativistic speed before breaking KE rules. We get around 4.6 Gigatons of TNT that Dabura himself would be experiencing. (Math)

Contention 1: “Dabura only moved at sub relativistic speeds as he moved at Sub-Light Speed.”

Rebuttal: This is bluntly wrong, the official translation does use sublight speed. However the actual Kanji used when correctly translated does in fact read “Near Light Speed”. And in every translation Dabura actually mentions “Reach the light” as he continues to accelerate. (Scans)

Contention 2: “Dabura’s CT isn’t actually light speed since killing intent is mass, meaning his light moves significantly slower than light.”

Rebuttal: This again was proven to be false. “Killing Intent” was revealed to be nothing more than the Rumelian name for cursed energy in the volume extras. Instead Dabura’s technique gives things the property of light, IE: normally his cursed energy but also his body if he wants. Think of him like Ryu where he fires pure cursed energy, but applying his “Light” CT to it allows it to become deadly light. (Scans)

Contention 3: “Dabura’s energy isn’t ever depicted correctly as if he really moved that fast he’d destroy way more than what he ends up destroying.”

Rebuttal: While at a glance this is a fair critique, but also partially wrong. Dabura himself destroys a ton of things around him by moving, but the final kick itself is also destructive. People might inherently look at the range, but the actual energy required to vaporize all that the final kick did is (semi) close to the energy before. It is a little under 10 times the energy required but compared to other displays of kinetic energy it’s close enough. (Scans)

Feat #2: Dabura makes an Aurora Borealis

Premise: Towards the beginning of his fight with Mahoraga Dabura used his cursed technique to fire light beams at Mahoraga that went up into the air. This created an effect that was practically 1 to 1 of Aurora Borealis. What’s key to note is the Aurora happens mid day as Dabura’s fight began when the sun was high in the sky, this makes the Aurora far brighter than it would’ve been compared to a normal Aurora.

The Math: I already made this one before and don’t wanna type that all out. Just go here. But to sum it up depending on whether you think the Aurora was as bright as the daylight or significantly bright it gets from 19.4 Gigatons up to 1.14 Teratons. It is also important to note it also can be 432 Megatons to 25.4 Gigatons for each individual beam if you believe that Dabura fired many beams instead of one to form the Aurora.

Contention 1: “Dabura uses a wide range of light based attacks, this shouldn’t represent his entire arsenal.”

Rebuttal: That’s honestly totally fair, his light beam attack is likely significantly more powerful than his big lasers, however his darkness ability being a CTR should be at least twice as powerful just going off Gojo’s Reversal Red.

Contention 2: ”There’s no correlation between this attack and any other attack in the verse as this one shots Mahoraga many times.”

Rebuttal: That is fair too, even compared to his kick it makes sense this would be stronger than applying his ct to himself, as it’s extremely unrefined in comparison. But to say it’s superior to every other attack in the verse I personally find unfair, especially to an attack like 200% Purple, an attack by a six eyes user, boosted by his own chants as well as two other boost cursed techniques.

Does anyone actually scale to these moves/attacks?

The Argument for: There are a good amount of arguments for others scaling to Dabura’s feats

Argument 1: “Dabura is at best equal to Sukuna” It is stated, so many god dang times that Sukuna is equal to Dabura, and it’s even stated by Yuji as well that he could’ve handled Dabura if he had beaten Mahoraga, the same Yuji that has potential equal to Sukuna(These statements are from both characters and the narrator who theoretically is omniscient)

Argument 1A: And as mentioned prior Dabura’s kinetic energy he is experiencing would in turn translate to his durability, and considering all he’s doing is increasing his speed instead of stats, his base durability skills to the energy up to the kick. Sukuna and Yuji would have to possess the AP to fatally wound Dabura, at worst their domains would which Gojo was capable of surviving. And quite frankly to use some common logic, Gojo and Sukuna were treated narratively as gods, for them to be violently surpassed would likely need acknowledgement directly instead of implied.

Argument 2: The Jujutsu establish power system itself. Cursed energy output dictates the power of an attack, the higher the output is the more powerful an attack is. Gojo’s attacks, especially Hollow Purple contain immense output, Gojo who has more experience, wider knowledge of cursed energy, as well as the six eyes most certainly has at least equal, likely higher output than Dabura. And Sukuna was able to survive a supercharged hollow purple and a second unaimed purple.

Argument 3: Mahoraga himself, first of all as confirmed by Gege the Mahoraga that Dabura fought was the exact same Sukuna and Gojo fought. Meaning that for the most part, we can compare some of their moments together, such as Gojo and Dabura breaking Mahoraga’s sword, or all of them beating him up badly. To put it simply they are portrayed as equal during each of their respective fights(though I will admit it was far more pronounced in the anime, and there’s a debate whether or not it should be canon, specifically around how mahoragas regen adaptation was shown in the modulo)

The Argument Against: There are a few arguments against anyone else really scaling to these feats:

Argument 1: These feats WAYYYY outscale everything else we saw in the original Jujutsu Kaisen. The top end of the feats getting from large town level all the way up to possibly mountain level, with Gojos Earthquake, domain scaling(EXTREMELY CONTENTIOUS), and Kenjaku resisting a black) hole(Hard to Calc, also contentious).

Argument 2: Dabura’s attacks are never resisted by anyone. Mahoraga is consistently ATOMIZED by every attack until he finally fully adapted. (Scan)

Argument 3: Dabura (might) have been able to be killed by a nuke as Japan using the United States materials was planning to make a special nuke to drop on Dabura. However I do want to point a few things out. A) Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has advanced to the year 2086, meaning technology (and theoretically nuclear technology) has advanced greatly, meaning the theoretical 100 Megaton Tsar Bomb has likely been surpassed. B) This is backed up by Japan being a “Nuclear Power”, Japan today does not have nukes, however in Modulo they have attained them. C) It’s never said how Dabura could die, it could be in the initial blast, or more likely the intense radiation would kill him, Dabura himself displayed a casualty to be able to resist immense heat already. I personally find this argument to be immensely weak.

What do I think?

My Opinion: I’m in the field of Dabura raising the power of the god tiers, it wouldn’t make sense for Sukuna and Gojo to be dwarfed so badly, especially when Yuji was pretty confident he could beat Dabura, but that’s just my opinion
