What it is: BrainShield is a free Android app I made that blocks short-form feeds at the screen level instead of blocking whole apps.
The problem it solves: most blockers force a choice — lose the app (and its DMs) or keep doomscrolling. Naive app-name blockers also miss renamed/modded feed clients.
How it works: – Accessibility service reads the foreground screen and closes Reels/Shorts/TikTok/X video tab in real time; the rest of the app keeps working. – Local DNS sinkhole on the device (not a proxying VPN) so blocked domains fail in every app and browser. – Heavy Focus Mode locks all switches behind a fresh 16-character code; streaks and milestone notifications keep the habit going. – Pomodoro timer with tasks, water reminder, calendar and time-saved counter included.
