Where domain hunters compare notes

We launched a new site 12 days ago. It’s already being cited inside Google’s AI Overview. Here’s what actually happened.

Not trying to sell anything here, just sharing a data point because I think it's genuinely useful for anyone tracking how AI search is changing SEO.

We launched a small B2B site in Malaysia 12 days ago. Brand new domain, zero backlink history, no ad spend. This week I checked our target keyword and found two things:

1) We're ranking 3rd organically against sites that have been live for years.

2) Google's AI Overview is now naming us as the direct answer to the query, ahead of every other option it lists.

What I think actually caused it (happy to be told I'm wrong):

  • We wrote every page to directly answer a specific question, instead of writing generic "about us" style copy.
  • We were extremely explicit about what the business does, who it's for, and what it costs. No vague positioning. AI systems seem to reward specificity over persuasion.
  • We kept entity signals (who we are, what we do) consistent word-for-word across every page instead of varying the phrasing for "SEO diversity," which used to be common advice.

Genuinely curious whether others are seeing the same pattern, that AI Overview citation seems to reward clarity and consistency more than it rewards classic backlink-heavy SEO. Anyone else tracking this?

(If anyone wants to find out how we did it, happy to share, just comment and we'll share it.)
