Looks like there’s been a coordinated reputation management campaign around Peter Spiegel

I work in marketing, and while looking up Peter Spiegel after the recent Reckless Ben videos, I noticed something interesting (although very obvious) in the search results. Thought it might be worth sharing in case others haven't looked.

There appears to have been a fairly coordinated SEO/reputation management campaign around his connection to Barsana Dham.

There are a surprising number of websites built around combinations of his name and relevant search terms, including:

peterspiegelhindu.com / .org / .net
peterspiegelsaraswati.com / .org / .net
peterspiegelbarsanadham.com / .org / .net
peterspiegelhindutemple.com / .org / .net
peterspiegelswami.org
peterspiegelguru.net
peterspiegeltexas.com / .net

and for what it is worth, the same for Katie Williams, with sites like https://katiewilliamsbarsanadham.com (but I've already spent too much time looking into this to list a bunch of those too!)

The content is mostly harmless, positive material about Hinduism, spirituality, Saraswati, gurus, temples and Barsana Dham, with their names heavily worked into it.

Some of the SEO is particularly unsubtle. Articles are actually tagged with phrases including "Peter Spiegel Barsana Dham scandal", despite not discussing the scandal itself.

There also seems to have been a much wider push outside these websites, with similarly optimised Peter Spiegel/Katie Williams/Barsana Dham content appearing on Medium, YouTube, X, Mastadon, Dailymotion, DeviantArt, Behance and image-hosting sites, covering articles, videos and images.

It just looks very much like someone has deliberately tried to fill search results for combinations of Peter Spiegel/Katie Williams + Barsana Dham/Hindu/Saraswati/Guru/etc. with neutral or positive content. This content has been created from 2023 onwards, aligning with the dates of when the story was resurfacing with the press and all the layoffs.

None of this proves who commissioned it, although keen to find out who they are and who the PR people are, if anyone can dig into the records more than I've been able to. The domain ownership I've been able to find is privacy protected.

Presumably the aim was conventional reputation management and pushing less favourable results down Google. Given how recent some of it is, it may also have the side effect of influencing what AI/search tools find when looking him up, although there's obviously no way to say that was specifically intended.

Just thought it was an interesting little detail given what Ben is currently covering.

Edit: I should note that reputation management would most likely be needed wether guilty or not, so this doesn't necessarily signal guilt. That said, the timing is interesting in that it seems to have been preemptive on the story coming out again after years of there not being anything. All around the same time as litigation proceedings.
