TripLogger works fully locally. You only need this setup if you want positions uploaded to your own Traccar server or want Traccar history available as a fallback.
BEFORE YOU START
• Have a working Traccar server that your phone can reach.
• Use HTTPS for an Internet-facing server.
• Do not give TripLogger administrator credentials. Create a restricted Traccar user where possible.
POSITION UPLOAD SETUP

Open Traccar and create a new device.

Give it any useful name.

Assign a unique device identifier.

Open TripLogger → Settings.

Enter the Traccar server URL, for example:

Enter the exact same Device ID used in Traccar.

Save the settings and start tracking.

Confirm the device begins updating in Traccar.
TripLogger sends positions using Traccar's OsmAnd-compatible interface. If the server or network is unavailable, points remain queued locally and upload when connectivity returns.
OPTIONAL ROUTE-HISTORY/API ACCESS
Uploading live positions and reading historical positions are separate functions.

Create or select a restricted Traccar user.

Give that user access only to the required device.

In TripLogger, enter the Traccar API URL.

Enter the restricted username and password.

Enter the numeric Traccar device ID.

Test route history from TripLogger.
The password is masked in the app. Local trips and mileage remain the primary data source; Traccar history is optional fallback data.
QUICK TROUBLESHOOTING
• No Traccar updates: check the server URL and confirm the Device ID matches exactly.
• Unknown device in Traccar logs: the identifier does not match a registered device.
• Uploads work only on Wi-Fi: check public DNS, HTTPS, firewall and reverse-proxy routing.
• Tracking stops with the screen off: remove Android battery restrictions and allow background location.
• Missing old routes: Traccar cannot return history it never received.
