My fitness bike won’t go to sleep since I upgraded to the Cloud Gateway.

For many years I was running my home network on a USG.

One of my devices on wifi is a Wahoo Kickr Bike Shift – a fancy exercise bike.

When the bike has not been in use for 15 minutes, it's supposed to go into sleep mode, and this occurred successfully until recently, when I replaced my USG with a Cloud Gateway (Fiber).

Since making that update, the bike indicator lights never turn off. It won't go to sleep.

I suspect there's something about the new Cloud Gateway that is keeping the connection active and therefore keeping the bike awake. I have tried:

  • Turning off IPS
  • Turning off Band Steering
  • Turning off BBS Transition
  • Creating a separate SSID for the bike that is limited to 2.4GHz with PMF disabled and forced Wifi 4
  • Turning off mDNS Proxy
  • Turning off Device & Traffic Identification

I did confirm that if I disconnect the bike from the wifi entirely that it will go into sleep mode, so it doesn't appear to be something about the bike – it's the wifi connection.

None of the things I have tried have resulted in the bike being able to go to sleep.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for things I should check?
