Where domain hunters compare notes

What keeps a homelab service inventory from becoming stale?

A spreadsheet or wiki is useful on day one, but it can drift as containers move, ports change, certificates renew, and temporary services become permanent. What do you use as the authoritative inventory for a homelab: Compose or Ansible files, a service catalog, DNS, monitoring discovery, or a combination? The fields that seem most useful are hostname and address, exposure, dependencies, backup status, authentication method, and recovery notes. I am curious which updates can be generated automatically and which still need a manual review trigger.
