Who remembers those VHS tapes of public domain cartoons such as “Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies” and “Popeye”? They were extremely cheap and the company used previously recorded tapes that would sometimes have part of the movie after the last cartoon. It turns out, many were recorded on PORN tapes! A company releasing kids material on former adult movies! From what I’ve read about these, the company hired a 14 year old. Yes, FOURTEEN! They were apparently hired to record over the tapes and possibly weren’t aware they were used. They even had a club to join called The Happy Hamster Club and they wanted your name, age, something about you and a PICTURE. As it turns out, many kids joined. Their pictures were being used to enter… BEAUTY CONTESTS! They even had a creepy hamster mascot. There were tons of reports about all of this.
Now, I had some of these years ago, but, there was no porn. These tapes were sold everywhere in the ‘90s. Many parents were shocked. I’m sure no one expected to see sex after Bugs Bunny or Daffy Duck!
