We have seen this before. Products start out as antivirus software, then they try to include firewall protection, and then they try to get into the password manager market. When products combine all of these services, every service just degrades in quality. All I want from a Windows ad blocker is to block ads on a Windows PC, primarily in the browser. But now 8.0 adblocker now starts filtering my individual programs. Please just stop. I know I can turn all that stuff off, but instead of the team just focusing on blocking ads in the browser, they got people just putting time into filtering apps, wasting time and resources instead of where it actually matters. Most of the time, DNS protection really does not help, at least with ad blocking, maybe helping a little with malware detection, but I think the browser can usually handle that job. To sum it up, I just want a good ad blocker for the web. That is, it.
