I am wanting to play online to access trades
Retail HeartGold (NTR-IPKE-USA) on an unmodified DS Lite, no flashcart, unpatched cart. Connection test passes. Mystery Gift and GTS both throw 20110.
I tested five DNS servers directly from my Mac (nslookup, querying each server explicitly) and every single one returns the same thing:
“`
→ wifinlbasnaswifiasnasprod-7544ef395975b93b.elb.us-west-2.amazonaws.com
→ 44.245.86.170 / 54.201.103.197
“`
Servers tested:
– 178.62.43.212 (Kaeru / Poké Classic)
– 5.161.56.11 (WiiLink WFC)
– 89.117.58.143 (NewWFC)
– 167.235.229.36 (WiiLink / RiiConnect24)
– 172.104.88.237 (AltWFC)
That AWS address is Nintendo's actual shutdown endpoint, so no redirect is happening from any of them.
**Setup:** GL.iNet GL-MT300N-V2 travel router, Ethernet WAN, open (unencrypted) 2.4GHz SSID since DS Lite only does WEP or open. DS has Auto-obtain DNS = No, both primary and secondary set to the target address, Auto-obtain IP = Yes. Erased and re-entered the WFC config from scratch. Tried with and without router-level DNS override, and with and without a WireGuard tunnel (to rule out ISP-level port 53 interception). Same result every time.
**My questions:**
-
Is `nas.nintendowifi.net` even the right domain to be testing? If these servers intercept at a different point in the WFC chain, my test might be meaningless and my actual config could be fine.
-
For those of you currently playing Gen 4 online, are you on original DS/DS Lite hardware with a retail cart, or DSi/3DS, or a flashcart with a patched ROM? Trying to work out whether this is a hardware/method gap rather than a config problem.

Anything obvious I'm missing?
Happy to run any diagnostic commands. Thanks.
