Fishing rod repair

Hi everyone,

I'm at loss of options: I bought a fishing rod a while back and finally had time to plug it in. However it doesn't react or do anything in any game. I imagine something is off or defective but can't see anything visually. I have no idea how to troubleshoot such an item.

I looked online but couldn't find any repair guide.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I should proceed? I'm no good with circuits but am willing to learn.
