I read through the source and actually ran it (inited it, drove it forward 120+ ticks, then restarted the process against the same DB to check continuity holds). Solid project — genuinely more careful than most hobby agent frameworks I see.
In plain terms: a local Python agent that runs continuously via a scheduled task, keeps a tamper-evident append-only log of everything it does (SQLite + hash chain), can search the web or read social feeds on its own, but needs your explicit approve before anything with a real side effect (commands, posts) executes. Layered on top, “IFL” tracks prediction residuals over a 2D space and grows local “formations” — corrections — wherever its baseline model is consistently wrong.
What stands out:
Security is real, not decorative. shell=False, a genuine command allowlist, scrubbed env vars, SSRF blocking on web.fetch that checks resolved IPs (not just the hostname string, so it isn’t trivially DNS-rebound), secret redaction, default-deny authority gate. Nothing consequential runs without your sign-off.
The ledger is legit engineering. Hash-chained, append-only enforced at the SQLite trigger level (not just app code), idempotency keys against duplicate actions. I ran it fresh and restarted it mid-state — chain verified clean both times, and step/formations/identity all came back exactly as they should from disk.
Your test discipline is the standout part. The audit → fix → red-team → fix-again arc in your result files is exactly how this kind of system should get hardened, and it caught real bugs (restart amnesia, promoting on the same data used to discover a cluster, formations summing corrections instead of arbitrating) that a lot of people would’ve shipped past.
The one thing worth sitting with: even with the bridge wired up, formations are still learning inside a synthetic (x, z) space — real events (web results, command outcomes) get mapped in at near-random coordinates near the origin. Your own audit called this “two weakly coupled systems,” and closing the bridge closed the plumbing, not the meaning gap. What’s born is still mostly shaped by synthetic spatial noise, not by anything structural about your actual web/command experience. The open design question isn’t “is the bridge connected” anymore — it’s what x/z should represent for real evidence.
