So, long story short, I’m trying to shiny hunt for torchic in emerald on mGBA emulator (I am too broke to get an actual game nor the console 🫠) and the only proper video guide I followed was by a YouTuber named “acrylic” (I’ll provide the link at the end).
His videos are very simple to follow, but when it comes to frame offsets, he shows off his visual studio code script with a script he wrote of a programmed offset frame calculator. He said it is optional to use because it’s technically simple math due to an already existing formula you can follow as “hit frame – target frame = offset/difference”.
Now here is where the issue comes in, I tried using the script program he offered in the description of his Pokémon emerald related videos. I run it through the visual studio code program and I kept getting one error that prevented me from normally running it like how he does it. So then I also tried following the formula traditionally without the script, it made my brain freeze because I felt confused all of a sudden for no reason, maybe because I don’t understand well what can I do after finding out the offset number as a result.
If you are curious what tools I’m using for this, I am using the same ones as acrylic guy, literally poke finder. I do know that that program has a “delay” section to do an input on the offset numbers, but I am not so sure if it will work well. You know what I mean right?
So to dumb it down, I am having a hard time doing this simple shiny hunt that is less complex to do all because I am having a hard time comprehending on using the formula traditionally and having a hard time trying to run a python script to then calculate for me instead of me doing it all on my own.
If you guys know what’s up with this situation, that would be generous for you to help me out resolve this issue with either calculating the formula on my own or helping me fix the issue I have with the script in the visual studio code program (I’ll provide a pic of the error I get for trying to run the script)
