Where domain hunters compare notes

How would you leverage 2 years of cybersecurity SaaS experience to move from $60K to $80K+?

TL;DR: 2 years in cybersecurity SaaS technical support, currently making ~$60K in Boston. Experience with IAM, SSO/SAML, Okta/Entra, AD/SCIM, M365, email security, DNS, APIs, logs, PowerShell and Linux. Finishing a BS in IT and working toward Security+. I enjoy both technical troubleshooting and customer interaction. What career move would best leverage my existing experience and realistically put me in the running for $80K+ roles?

M:29 I’m looking for some guidance on what my next career move should be. I’m currently making around $60K in the Boston area and would like to target at least $80K for my next position, ideally within the next 6 months.

I have about 2 years of professional IT experience working for two cybersecurity SaaS companies. Before getting into tech, most of my background was customer service/call centers.

I’m currently a Technical Support Specialist supporting enterprise customers. My job is a mix of customer service and technical troubleshooting through tickets, email, phone, and Zoom.
Some of the technologies/areas I work with include:
SSO/SAML

Okta and Microsoft Entra ID
Active Directory and SCIM
Microsoft 365/Exchange
Email security and mail flow
DKIM/SPF/DMARC and DNS
APIs and logs
PowerShell
Linux/CLI
Networking and certificates
Security/product policies and configurations

I generally investigate issues, review logs/configurations, troubleshoot with customers, and escalate more complex problems to higher support tiers when necessary.

I’m also two semesters away from finishing my bachelor’s in IT and currently working toward Security+ and A+. Through school, I’ve also worked with Python, Bash, SQL, APIs and some JavaScript.
The part I’m struggling with is figuring out how to market everything I’ve learned and what the logical next step should be.

I enjoy technical troubleshooting and investigating problems, but I also genuinely enjoy interacting with customers. I’m open to staying in Product/Technical Support Engineering or moving into something adjacent like IAM, cybersecurity, cloud, Solutions Engineering, Implementation Engineering, Technical Account Management, etc.

I don’t want to completely start over in another entry-level field if I can build on the experience I already have.

For those further along in their careers:
What roles would you target if you were in my position?

Is $80K+ realistic for my next move with 2 years of experience in the Boston/remote market, or do I need more experience first?

Are there particular roles where my combination of technical troubleshooting + cybersecurity SaaS + customer-facing experience would be especially valuable?

And if I have about 6 months to prepare for my next move, what would you prioritize to make me a stronger candidate?
