Travel Router (GLX1800)

Hi everyone,
I have two GL.iNet routers set up for a remote VPN/network connection. I have a Beryl AX (GL-MT3000) at my brother’s location, which is the source router, and a GL-X3000/GL-MT? router with me at my current location.
My internet connection at the source location is 600 Mbps download / 500 Mbps upload, while the internet connection at my current location is around 100 Mbps download. However, when I connect through the remote Beryl AX, I’m only getting around 2 Mbps, so there seems to be a major bottleneck somewhere.
I’m wondering if there are any router, VPN, WireGuard, MTU, DNS, or other configuration settings I can change to improve the speed.
Would upgrading the source router from the Beryl AX to a Flint 2 make a significant difference? Or is there something I should configure first before buying new hardware?
Any suggestions or recommended settings would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
