“You’re a f***ing killer, how do you know that ?”

I just wanted to brag a bit about what just happened. I'm the 'senior' (I'm not that old) IT in my org, and the junior I hired last year came to me : "I have a problem with someone remote, some things are working, some are not". He's been trying to solve this for a good 30 minutes and the remote user is the CFO, aka my boss.

I connect to the machine. Network drives down. I immediately suspect a DNS issue, our internal servers are not reachable and pinging them with FQDN resolves to our public IP instead of their internal ones.

I list the NRPT rules. I see that they are not configured correctly. I should have done that. Anyways, open powershell, add a new NRPT rule for our domain. Refresh drives. Everything is back online.

"You're a beast man. You're a f****ing killer, how do you know that ? I've been on this for 30 minutes and you solved it in 2 !"

I love that feeling.
