Allegedly the July 27th outage was fully resolved. However:
My service is still up and down and it appears from this sub that others are having similar issues. It seems to be intermittent/region specific when it does happen
RCS is intermittent for me (iPhone). It works pretty well to other T-Mobile users, but to AT&T, I can only seem to send RCS if I am immediately replying (within a minute or two) to an inbound RCS message. If I hesitate at all to respond, or am initiating the convo, it sends as SMS.
I have rebooted god knows how many times. Obtained a new eSIM. Reset network settings. Contacted T-Force. No dice.
The worst part is T-Force still cannot seem to retrieve my port-out PIN so I assume the system that generates those is either 1.) actively a subject of an ongoing attack or 2.) T-Mobile accidentally-on-purpose nerfed that system to trap us with their shitty intermittent service during this time.
But this sure has all the hallmarks of a cyberattack that is STILL ongoing, and maybe it’s not bringing down the full network all at once like it was, but it seems to be intermittently bringing down different things at different times and I just want to pull my hair out. It’s almost like the firefighters came in on 7/27 to a structure that was fully involved, and they mostly knocked down the immediate fire, but they are still stamping out little hotspots and flare-ups almost 2 weeks later.
Worth noting T-Mobile has been very hush-hush on the cause or extent of the outage. Just acknowledged one existed and that it has been “resolved.” If it were DNS or BGP or a misconfig, they’d have told us by now. But a cyberattack is something you keep hush-hush unless legally required to disclose.
All I want is to fucking port out to the slow-but-stable AT&T and I’m seriously considering just getting a new number at this point to do so. T-Mobile has moved past the “move fast and break things” era of John Legere, and now we simply “break things.” I would absolutely kill for some stable 2 Mbps LTE routed through Dallas right now.
