Decided to give my A5M a static IP address on my LAN rather than chase the constantly-changing DHCP-assigned addresses.
Did that no problem, but then it also wanted addresses for the gateway and DNS server. I dutifully entered those, but then wondered why, exactly, the printer needs them. Is it going to "phone home"? Any ideas?
On the off chance that I might someday want to print a file from a remote location, does this work over the Internet? How do you set it up? What port(s) etc.? I know on my router, I'd use Port Forwarding to direct the incoming data to the printer.
