Where domain hunters compare notes

6 months, 3 dead Merchant Center accounts, $3,000+ in consultants — and Google still auto-rejects our review in under 10 seconds. Here’s everything we’ve tried.

We run a small Danish furniture business (solid oak bathroom furniture, handmade – our own production and distribution). Rebranded from our old name to a new one earlier this year — same legal entity, same CVR/company number, fully legitimate name change. Since then we've been stuck in Google Merchant Center hell for a "Misrepresentation" policy violation.

Timeline so far:

  • Original account suspended for Misrepresentation shortly after the rebrand
  • Fought it for months, got a temporary win via an EU Digital Services Act complaint (Google acknowledged the issue and reinstated us)
  • Suspended again later — this time all our accounts got permanently banned, "all appeals exhausted"
  • Created a new account (yes, we know that's risky, but we genuinely had no other option) — got flagged for Misrepresentation again within days

What we've actually fixed (this is the crazy part):

  • Rewrote our Terms of Service and Return Policy to remove contradictions (had a line saying "14-day no-questions-asked returns" right next to "we can refuse returns if the item was assembled" — classic self-own)
  • Fixed inconsistent business info across site/socials/Merchant Center
  • Corrected shipping/handling times to match everywhere (website, GMC settings, checkout)
  • Fixed stock status — we were showing "in stock" when everything is actually made-to-order (switched to proper backorder logic)
  • Removed FSC™ certification claims because we don't actually hold the Chain of Custody certificate (found out mid-suspension that we'd been using a trademark we had no legal right to)
  • DNS-verified our domain independently after discovering an old, dead account might still have held a conflicting "claim" on it
  • Found a sentence on our own About page saying we "previously operated under [old brand name]" — turns out there's a completely unrelated, still-active company with that exact name. Google's system was likely reading that as a false affiliation claim with another real business. Removed it immediately.
  • Just found our Shopify backend was showing an estimated delivery date from… May. In September. Untouched for months.
  • And many other changes…

Where we're stuck now:
Every single time we request a review — even after fixing something concrete and substantial — we get rejected in literally seconds to minutes. Not hours. Seconds. That's not a human reviewing anything. Support (gTech) told us the process is "fully automated" and even they can't see what's specifically triggering it. We followed their exact instructions to click "I fixed the issue," got instantly rejected again, and now the button itself is locked/unavailable — for the third time.

Question for the sub: has anyone actually gotten a suspended-for-Misrepresentation Shopify store reinstated after this many cycles? Did going through EU DSA arbitration (or an equivalent outside your jurisdiction) actually work for you long-term, or did the account just get flagged again later? Genuinely trying to figure out if we're missing something structural, or if this is just how it goes for smaller merchants who got caught in an automated net during a legitimate rebrand. Is it possible to regain our GMC account after this cycle?
