Cardinality/A Gojo Inspired Technique

Neutral Technique: Cardinality

In set theory, some infinities are larger than others, a concept developed by Georg Cantor. The infinity of whole numbers (1, 2, 3…) is a countable infinity called Aleph-Null. The infinity of real numbers between 0 and 1 (0.1, 0.11, 0.111…) is an uncountable, vastly larger infinity called the Continuum.

The basic neutral technique wraps the user in a thin veil of space possessing the cardinality of the Continuum (uncountable infinity). If an opponent throws a punch, a volley of arrows, or a laser, those attacks represent a "countable" sequence of events moving along a trajectory. When an attack hits the barrier, its finite or countably infinite sequence is entirely swallowed up and lost within the vastly superior density of the uncountable infinity. It's like trying to fill the entire ocean by dropping individual, countable grains of sand into it one by one, the progress is mathematically negligible, so the attack never pierces through.

When an attack, such as a sword, bullet, or energy blast, approaches the user, it enters a thin, shimmering "veil" around them. The moment the attack touches the veil, it appears to infinitely duplicate or blur into a smear of static. Because the barrier has a higher density of infinity—the Continuum—than the attack, which follows a single trajectory, the attack gets physically "diluted." A single bullet looks as though it expands into a cloud of infinite ghost bullets, while a sword appears to turn into a painted smear of steel stretching across the user's perimeter. The attack loses its singular, focused point of impact. To the attacker, it feels like punching into a deep ocean or cloud of mist: their fist enters the barrier, but the energy and force are scattered across infinitely many data points simultaneously, causing the attack to completely lose its impact and dissolve into nothingness.

Cursed Technique Lapse/Convergence

When the user uses a forward-rotation activation of their innate cursed technique with normal, negative cursed energy, it produces an offensive ability. The laws of physics apply to this ability. Normally, if a sword slash or punch hits the user, the Neutral Technique stops it in a manner similar to Infinity. The difference is that the energy from the impact never actually disappears. Unlike Infinity, which effectively prevents the attack from reaching the user, Cardinality literally takes the incoming hits in. That means the energy has to go somewhere.

To activate the technique's Lapse ability, the user has to drop their defenses and release the energy that their barrier has scattered infinitely at the subatomic level, shooting it outward as a massive, localized shockwave. The user can then shape this released energy into refined cursed energy, similarly to how Mechamaru manipulates his output, albeit on a smaller scale. Essentially energy dispersed across countless points is brought back together. A convergence.

Cursed Technique Lapse — Maximum Cursed Energy Output: Aleph

At maximum output, Aleph changes what Cardinality acts upon. Rather than primarily overwhelming the energy carried by incoming matter—such as its heat, kinetic energy, or momentum—the technique treats the matter itself as something that can be overwhelmed by a higher cardinality. Under normal operation, Cardinality largely ignores an object's physical mass and instead disperses the energy associated with its motion, allowing the barrier to stop attacks without immediately annihilating everything that enters it. At maximum output, however, the technique extends that principle to the object's physical structure. Against an ordinary human or conventional physical fighter, direct exposure is effectively a lethal, unblockable death sentence: their physical matter is overwhelmed by the Continuum and spatially diluted beyond any recoverable configuration. Punch the barrier your hand is essentially just gone when you pull it out.

Reduced to atoms. Literally! But what happens to the atoms is the point.

A physical object entering the barrier experiences the same effect. If the tip of a sword crosses the shimmering veil, that section of the blade is immediately translated into the higher-cardinality space of the Continuum. Visually, the affected portion appears to stretch into a blurry, painted smear of steel around the user's perimeter. The blade has not simply been cut or destroyed; its physical structure and trajectory have been distributed across an uncountable number of spatial points. Attempting to pull it free therefore feels less like removing a sword from armor and more like dragging a cable out of infinitely deep quicksand. Once removed, the affected section cannot perfectly reconstitute its original structure. Its atomic arrangement has been catastrophically disrupted, leaving the metal as a permanently distorted, amorphous mass that resembles a blurred or "glitched" section of reality. Any subsequent vibration or impact can cause the corrupted material to collapse into fine metallic dust.

The same principle applies to anything left inside when the barrier is deactivated. Conservation of mass is maintained: nothing simply disappears. Instead, the matter and energy that were spatially dispersed by Cardinality are forced back into ordinary three-dimensional space simultaneously. The barrier effectively acts as a temporary spatial compressor, distributing incoming objects across an uncountable number of points within an extremely small perimeter. When that compression disappears, everything is violently reconstituted into normal space. For example, if fifty bullets are trapped inside the barrier, their mass returns to ordinary space while their previously dispersed momentum is restored. Because the bullets are forced back into an extremely confined region simultaneously, they violently collide with one another and the surrounding air, producing a concentrated shockwave, kinetic-energy burst, and high-velocity shrapnel explosion. Thus, deactivating Aleph with enough matter trapped inside can itself become a devastating area-of-effect attack.

Extension Technique — Coalescence

Because the Cardinality barrier can allow an effectively infinite density of matter to occupy an extremely small space, deactivating it at maximum output can produce a far more destructive phenomenon. When the barrier collapses, the matter dispersed throughout the Continuum is forced back into ordinary three-dimensional space, causing atoms from different objects to momentarily occupy the same physical coordinates. This atomic overlap triggers a violent chain reaction—not quite nuclear fusion, but a catastrophic form of molecular and atomic fracturing that rapidly converts the overlapping matter into an expanding mixture of heat, photons, and plasma. The result is a blinding flash of light, extreme temperatures, and a massive burst of pressure radiating outward from the user. Unlike the technique's normal applications, which primarily reroute, disperse, or restore energy that was already present, Atomic Overlap actively converts the trapped matter into a new and vastly more destructive energy release through the chain reaction. It is therefore the most devastating application of Cardinality: rather than simply returning what the barrier absorbed, it turns the barrier's accumulated spatial distortion into an explosive event of heat, light, plasma, and pressure.

But overall the fact that turning off Aleph with items trapped inside acts as an accidental (or intentional) fragmentation bomb is a fantastic double-edged sword. It means a clever opponent might try to "stuff" the barrier with debris to force the user into a position where deactivating it will cause collateral damage to their allies or surroundings. You literally can't turn off the technique after being but without finally a way to release the energy.

Maximum Technique/Diagonalization

This is based on Cantor’s Diagonal Argument, the mathematical proof used to show that one infinity is strictly larger than another by creating a new number that cannot possibly exist in the original set. Instead of creating a passive barrier, the user coats their own hand or weapon in a "Diagonalizing" film. When the user strikes, the technique analyzes the opponent's defensive technique, armor, or cursed energy reinforcement. It treats that defense as a "countable set" of rules (e.g., Defensive Power = X, Density = Y). The strike instantly generates a physical property that is mathematically excluded from the opponent's defensive set. It doesn't matter how high the enemy's durability is; the attack constructs a mathematical "outside" to their defense. The user's weapon passes through the opponent's ultimate armor or absolute barrier as if it simply wasn't on the list of things the armor was physically allowed to interact with. It is a clean, absolute bypass.

Cursed Technique Reversal/Quantization

Let's look at what the exact opposite of Cantor's Continuum is. The Continuum is smooth, unbroken, uncountable infinity. The opposite is discretization or quantization and breaking something smooth down into isolated, finite, rigid chunks. By using Positive Cursed Energy, the user turns the smooth, continuous space around an opponent into a strictly bounded, low-cardinality grid. Space loses its flexibility. If an opponent tries to move, they cannot move smoothly. They are forced to "teleport" from one rigid spatial coordinate to the next in jagged, choppy, instantaneous leaps. Because the opponent's body is moving through space that has been violently sliced into a finite number of blocks, their momentum doesn't transfer smoothly. If they try to punch, their shoulder moves to the next coordinate before their elbow does. It causes their own kinetic energy to violently shear their muscles and snap their bones from the inside out, completely disrupting their flow of combat. Issue with this one is that it has a wind up can visibly see the air being affected by the ability first before you yourself can get caught in it. So you can get out of dodge.

Domain Expansion: Cantor's Paradise

Named after David Hilbert’s famous quote about Georg Cantor: "No one shall expel us from the paradise that Cantor has created."

It creates a mathematical phenomenon where you take a solid line, delete the middle third, then delete the middle third of the remaining pieces, repeating this to infinity. What is left is a set that has a total length of zero, yet still contains an infinite number of points.

The domain looks like a pitch-black room or space where a singularity hangs dead-center in the void, haloed in blinding white radiance and cleanly bisected by a razor-sharp, relativistic beam of superheated matter. Encasing the horizon is a glowing, translucent cylinder of magnetic flux that flares outward into massive mirrored accretion disks above and below, transforming the event horizon into a titanic, monochromatic engine of pure gravitational power.

Or essentially like the 3rd image.

The domain targets the physical coordinates of everything inside it. It doesn’t flood the target's brain. Instead, it applies the "middle-third deletion" to the physical space the opponent occupies. Microscopic, infinite "slices" of the opponent’s physical mass are constantly being desynchronized from reality. It doesn’t violently explode them. Instead, the opponent begins to literally fade into a ghostly, fragmented state. They look like a flickering, static illusion. They are still "there" in spirit, but their physical mass has mathematically dropped to zero. They can no longer touch anything, use cursed energy, or exert force on the world.

They become a living paradox

An infinite soul trapped in a body of zero volume.

Yeah it's OP but not unbeatable. I'd put it on the same level of Limitless. Since Quantization has a visual tell, agile fighters with high battlefield IQ can dodge it. And even the basic offensive aspect is a tradeoff, since the Neutral Technique cannot be turned off safely when holding trapped objects without triggering an explosion, although you could probably learn to vent that safety. Been a while since I did a cursed technique.
