Picked up this SL7; should I have gotten an SL8 instead?

For years I was mostly running an HP Elitebook 840 G3 with a Core i5-6300U, 256GB SSD and 8GB of RAM, which has really started becoming unusable.

The iPad (that can be seen) is a pickup from about 2 years ago, and I wanted to pick up a Snapdragon Windows laptop because of the benefits of ARM, but also needed desktop PowerBI for some personal data visualization work and kinda missed Windows. Thus, the Surface Laptop pictured above.

I got it for just around $1,000 CAD (after taxes), but I’m wondering if I should have waited for an SL8 with an X2 Elite chip to get a bit cheaper (or another laptop with a similarly powerful chip).

What do you guys think? Is it a reasonable purchase or should I have been patient for an X2 Elite deal?
