If you are a new to Linux or have been using it for some time. Self hosting and owning your own data should be the next step. This is from a practical perspective because when you own your data, you are not tied to a particular service provider. With self hosted services, you own your data as well as control it so if a new and better platform comes, you can switch to it. If nothing else, I suggest looking into the following and
- Nextcloud – Does a lot like files, docs, etc.
- Jellyfin – Media server.
- Immich – Photo library, like Google Photos but actually better. (My favorite)
- Vaultwarden – Password Manager (Bitwarden compatible)
If you don't own a DNS server then you can use Tailscale to expose your server to the devices you control.
There are websites like https://selfh.st/apps/ as well as /r/selfhosted where you can join and connect with others.
