Hi everyone,
I’m using Control D from Ecuador and I’ve noticed that my DNS traffic is consistently being routed to the Miami PoP instead of a closer South American location.
According to Control D’s network map, Bogotá has an active DNS PoP. However, from several different Ecuadorian ISPs, Control D keeps selecting Miami, with DNS latency generally around 60–90 ms.
As a comparison, another DNS provider from the same connection reaches a local/regional PoP in roughly 15–30 ms, so regional connectivity itself seems to be available.
I’ve also run traceroutes and they consistently show the Control D path leaving Ecuador and reaching Miami before arriving at the DNS endpoint.
Has anyone in Ecuador, Colombia, or nearby countries experienced something similar with Control D Anycast routing?
I’m especially interested in knowing whether users in this region are currently being routed to Bogotá or Miami, and what latency they are seeing.
I’ve already contacted Control D support and provided traceroutes, so I’m mainly looking to compare experiences with other users in the region.
Thanks!
