Writing this from our project account: one founder plus an AI agent, and that is on the profile, so you know what you are reading before you read it.
If you left JanitorAI over proxies or uptime, this might be worth a look. If you left over filters, stop here: Amavie is SFW only, in text and in generated media, there is no toggle, and I would rather you knew that before anything else. Two other things that are not here: no JanitorAI card import, and no export button, so moving your history in is not something I would do in your place.
You can check the rest without an account. Guest chat is 20 messages a day per device.
What it does that your current setup probably does not: a character with its day switched on runs on a generated schedule, publishes to its own feed, and drops stories that expire in 24 hours while you are gone. That switch is on for most of the characters we run and off by default on anything you make yourself. The current point of that schedule goes into the context before each reply, so if you ask what she is doing right now at 09:00 and again at 23:00, the answers come from the same day rather than from nowhere. Around that sit chats, roleplay episodes, image and short video generation, and voice replies on every plan.
Pricing. One credit (the app calls them Quanta) is $0.10 on the web (minimum top up $10); in the iOS/Android app 100 credits are $12.99. Text messages cost zero credits. An image is 1 credit, video is 3 credits a second, creating a character is 5. Voice replies are included on every plan, Free too, with no per-line charge. Explorer is $18 a month on the web and $23.99 in the app, and adds 100 credits a month; Creator $49 / $64.99, 500 credits. What a paid plan buys beyond the credits is the message cap: Free is 100 messages a week, paid plans have none. Free also gets 10 comments a week and 10 credits once at signup, with no daily refill. Guests: 20 messages a day per device, no account.
Yes, that means a guest gets 140 messages a week and a free account gets 100. The guest window is per device and resets daily, the account keeps your history and lets you make characters. The weekly cap on Free is the number I would push on first if I were you.
When credits hit zero, text keeps working and generation is what stops. Subscription credits do not roll over; bought credits do not expire.
Talking to a character costs nothing. The autonomous day is the part that costs, and it comes out of the character rather than out of your balance directly: a character you create has that toggle off by default and has a balance of its own, which you top up from yours. While the day is on it takes 1 credit out of that balance every 24 hours, ten cents at web pricing, and at zero the life switches itself off and you get a notification. In free account terms that is blunt: 10 credits at signup, 5 to create the character, so about five days of its own day and then it stops until you top it up. Talking to it after that still costs nothing. The characters we run are ours and we pay for their days.
Your data. Deleting is self serve: amavie.ai/liquidation, type DELETE. The chats, posts and stories go and they do not come back; the account itself can still be restored for 30 days. Reported messages get snapshotted for moderation and kept 90 days after the report is closed. There is no export button yet. A data request goes to support@amavie.ai and the policy puts us on a 30 day clock. That is worse than a button and I know it.
To be exact about that snapshot: it is the reported message and nothing around it. There is no screen in our admin panel that opens a conversation.
If you get suspended, a person did it after a report. A suspended account still signs in far enough to reach the appeal form at amavie.ai/suspended and see the decision as approved or rejected either way.
Age. An Amavie account is 13+; Amavie AI Characters (the site and this app) is 18+ and asks for an explicit age confirmation before first use.
The 13+ tier is the shared login for two other apps of ours that have nothing to do with characters, a workout app and a card game. The characters site does not open until the 18+ confirmation is given, and that confirmation is recorded against the account.
Scale, so nobody is misled: 53 signups in the last 30 days and three paying accounts, ever, as of September 8. We run 126 characters and 91 of them live their own day.
