Hey fellow runners! I’ve been running for 6 years now and I have done 3 half marathons in the past.
Here’s the thing: when I was to start my Nike Run Club training program for the half marathon i got sick and had to skip the first two weeks. Fine… I recovered and slowly started back the training.
Cut to the beginning of August and my longest run was 13K. Then I went travelling and I planned on following the plan but unbelievably so, I got sick. And only managed to run once while I was abroad.
Returned home, survived the jet lag . And decided to pick up the training , slow and steady. Managed to run 3x the first week back (each time 30min only).
And surprisingly I got sick again and with an asthma flare (which I haven’t had one in ages!). I’m flabbergasted. So I need to stop running and recover first.
Now, the half marathon race is on the first weekend of October. So I’m almost sure I shouldn’t do it. I don’t have enough time or mileage and I will be stressed thinking about all the missed runs. Also don’t want to get injured.
Advice, commiserations, suggestions are all welcome! Thanks.
