Career @ Cybersecurity

Hello everyone!

Pa help naman po sa mga may experience or naka-experience na ng similar situation sa cybersecurity career.

Currently working ako as a Cybersecurity Analyst sa Company X, which is an MSP, and assigned kami to support Company Z.

Honestly, nung una excited talaga ako sa role kasi based sa Job Description, yung responsibilities were aligned sa career goal ko particularly security monitoring, investigation, and analysis. Kaya akala ko magandang stepping stone siya papunta sa SOC or Incident Response.

Pero nung actual work na, I found out na most of our tasks are more focused on monitoring. For example, web traffic monitoring, DNS QPS monitoring, ServiceNow SR/INC ticket monitoring, and other operational monitoring tasks.

Yung part na investigation, threat analysis, and incident handling na nasa Job Description, hindi namin masyadong ginagawa.

My concern is, gusto ko talaga maging career path ang SOC / Incident Response, pero I'm worried na baka hindi enough yung current experience ko since more on monitoring lang siya.

Any thoughts or advice from you guys?

Possible pa rin ba akong makapag-transition to SOC/Incident Response with this kind of experience? And ano kaya yung mga possible next roles na pwede kong target based sa current experience ko?
