Would you use a hardware device that diagnoses your Home Assistant setup?
I’ve been thinking about building a small device specifically for troubleshooting Home Assistant / smart-home setups.
Instead of digging through logs and trying to figure out why something stopped working, the device could automatically check things like:
– 🔴 Devices that went offline
– 📡 Wi-Fi/network problems
– 🟡 Zigbee/Matter connectivity issues
– 🔋 Low-battery sensors
– 🌐 DNS/internet problems
– ⚠️ Home Assistant errors
– 📶 Devices with poor signal strength
And ideally it would explain the problem in normal language, e.g.:
“Bedroom motion sensor is offline. Last seen 3 hours ago. Signal was already weak before it disconnected.”»
Would something like this actually be useful to you?
What would you want it to diagnose that Home Assistant doesn't make easy to diagnose today?
I’m mainly trying to figure out whether this is a problem worth building for before I actually make anything.
