If given infinite funds and an experienced dev team, how would you build your perfect browser?

For me it would be the following:

1. Chromium base for the superior sandboxing, more efficient renderer, way better memory management.

2. Native integrated ad blocker, bypassing all of Google's extension requirements by not even building it around MV2/3/whatever. Adblock-RS as the base, preload many trusted filters like AdGuard, uBlock, oisd, and HaGeZi for more comprehensive blocklists.

3. No password manager by default, users will have to choose a dedicated password manager like Proton Pass, BitWarden, KeePassXC, for enhanced encryption and reduced attack surface compared to the inbuilt manager.

4. Reject corporate sponsorship deals, instead give users full agency. Ex, instead of Brave VPN, recommend them a trusted VPN like Proton, Mullvad, PIA, or Windscribe. Also, include multiple privacy-focused DNS resolvers in the defaults such as Quad9, Mullvad, or ControlD.

5. Keep Google Safe Browsing on – I'm not trying to have you people get hit with malware that got past the adblocker, as even full uBlock Origin only has a 78% protection rate. GSB has a 97% rate according to the same test by the PC Security Channel.

6. Set the default search engine to any of these five: Qwant, Startpage, NoAI DuckDuckGo, a version of Google with the AI overviews disabled, or a public SearXNG instance. You can switch it whenever you want, but these are the baselines.

7. Reject in-built AI integration, in favor of giving users the option to install an extension should the need for agentic features be necessary.
